Assent to our exit bill from Contributory Pension Scheme, retired police officers urge Tinubu

The Police Retired Officers Forum of Nigeria has called on President Bola Tinubu to graciously assent to the Police Exit Bill, which has been passed by the National Assembly, for them to exit the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

According to them, “the welfare of police officers, both serving and retired, is directly tied to their morale, operational courage, intelligence gathering efficiency and willingness to make the ultimate supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation.”

They noted that the National Assembly had passed the bill since December 4, 2025, and subsequently transmitted it to the President on March 16, 2026.

The forum, under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), at a press conference held at the Ondo NUJ Secretariat, Alagbaka Akure on Tuesday said if President Tinubu signed the bill into Law, he would be making one of the most impactful security decisions because he would be restoring institutional parity and strengthening
