Young Nigerians on Tuesday staged a protest at the National Assembly in Abuja, demanding urgent and decisive action from the federal government to tackle the escalating insecurity across the country.
The demonstration, tagged ‘Nigerians Unite Against Terror’, began from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and proceeded to the National Assembly complex.
Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans calling for an end to killings, abductions, and banditry that continue to plague several parts of Nigeria.
One of the protest leaders emphasised the need for proactive governance, stating: “Our demands are simple: end insecurity. It is time for proactiveness. It is time for sincerity of purpose by those who govern us.”
The protest comes amid heightened public frustration over recent incidents of mass abductions, particularly of schoolchildren, and persistent attacks by bandits and insurgents in different regions.
Civil society groups and concerned citizens have increasingly taken to the streets to pressure authorities for better security measures
