
Some retired officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday appealed to President Bola Tinubu to sign the Police Exit Bill into law to improve their welfare in retirement.
The retired officers, under the auspices of the Police Retired Officers Forum of Nigeria, lamented that they had been suffering after retirement, citing their pensions and gratuities as meager.
The National Coordinator of the Police Retired Officers Forum, CSP Raphael Irowainu (retd), while addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, said the retirees were suffering under the force’s current Contributory Pension Scheme.
According to him, over 30,000 members of the forum wanted exemption from the Contributory Pension Scheme, as had been granted to their counterparts in other federal security agencies.
