Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday left Abuja for Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he will stand in for President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima will join other West African leaders and stakeholders at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre.
The summit is expected to address critical regional issues, including peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure development, and sustainable growth.
Leaders will also make key policy decisions and strategic resolutions to strengthen cooperation across the sub-region.
As part of the ECOWAS Mid-Year statutory meetings, the gathering brings together heads of state, government officials, ministers, and representatives from regional institutions to advance shared priorities amid ongoing political and economic challenges.
