Lagos releases 2026/2027 harmonised academic calendar for schools

The Lagos State government has approved and released the 2026/2027 harmonised academic calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state, as part of efforts to standardise the academic session across the board.

Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the commissioner for basic and secondary education, made this known in a statement when he emphasised that the calendar followed extensive consultations with education stakeholders facilitated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).

The commissioner explained that the document was finalised after two stakeholders’ meetings during which participants reviewed and agreed on key dates for the new session, including resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods, and holidays.

“The harmonised calendar is intended to help schools, teachers, parents, and students plan effectively for the academic year ahead while eliminating the disparities that often arise from schools operating on different schedules.
