Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed that no Nigerian artiste can win a Grammy Award without collaborating with him.
The singer made the assertion during an appearance on Rubbin’ Minds on Channels Television, where he described himself as a major force in the Nigerian music industry.
“If any artiste wants to collect Grammy in this Nigeria, if you don’t feature me, you’d not collect Grammy. If you want to collect a Grammy nomination, come and feature me. I am the new face—the newborn Fela,” Portable said.
He also claimed that many upcoming artistes now look up to him, adding that his style has inspired numerous imitators.
“See my style. I have lookalike, like thousand look alike. Even many people are looking up to me,” he added.
Portable also spoke about his growing involvement in celebrity boxing, saying he has helped increase the sport’s popularity in Nigeria
