Police foil bandits’ attack, recover 11 rustled cattle in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has foiled a bandits’ attack in Tangaza Local Government Area, recovered 11 rustled cattle and arrested several suspects linked to burglary and motorcycle theft in separate operations across the state.

The command said the operations, carried out by personnel of the Tangaza Division, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Village Crime Reduction Unit and the Strike Force, underscored its commitment to tackling banditry and property-related crimes.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Rufa’i, suspected Lakurawa bandits invaded Ayawa village on Monday evening, firing sporadically before making away with 11 cattle.

Rufa’i said a distress call prompted an immediate response by the Divisional Police Officer and his team, supported by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the VCRU, who blocked all escape routes leading out of the village.
