Executives advocate institutional reforms to attract investors

Business leaders and entrepreneurs have called for stronger institutions, faster judicial processes and greater support for entrepreneurship, saying these remain critical to attracting investment and driving Nigeria’s long-term economic growth.

The call was made recently in Lagos at the public presentation of The Challengers, a book with a foreword written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The author, Eghosa Imasuen, who is also a medical doctor, chronicles how Adeniyi Adenubi, Mobolaji Adewumi, Nonso Okpala, Gbenga Omolokun, Azubike Emodi transformed the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis into the multibillion-naira VFD Group, which is listed on the Nigerian Exchange.

Speaking at the event, Imasuen said Nigeria’s ability to attract investment depends not only on tackling corruption but also on building institutions capable of resolving commercial disputes quickly and fairly.
