N1bn disability fund: LASODA denies corruption, launches probe

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs has denied allegations of corruption in the administration of the state’s N1bn Disability Intervention Fund, saying it has begun an internal investigation into an anonymous kickback allegation while insisting no formal complaint was received before the claims were published.

In a statement obtained by The PUNCH on Tuesday,  LASODA said reports alleging that its officials demanded kickbacks from beneficiaries misrepresented the status of the matter and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the welfare of persons with disabilities.

The agency said although no formal complaint or documented allegation had been submitted to the office as of June 9, 2026, it immediately launched a fact-finding exercise after receiving an anonymous WhatsApp message on the issue.

According to LASODA, the preliminary investigation identified a suspected officer and the matter was escalated to the appropriate superior authority in line with Lagos State Public Service disciplinary
