The Federal High Court in Gusau has adjourned a suit filed by APC senatorial aspirant Abdullahi Shinkafi challenging the outcome of the party’s Zamfara North Senatorial District primary election.
Justice Hassan Dikko fixed July 28 for the adoption of final written addresses after hearing arguments on affidavits, counter-affidavits, and preliminary objections from the parties.
Shinkafi is contesting the May 19 primary that declared incumbent Senator Sahabi Ya’u as the APC candidate for the 2027 general elections.
He alleges the exercise was marred by irregularities and violated the Electoral Act 2022, INEC guidelines, and APC’s own procedures.
Plaintiff’s counsel, Bello Galadi, told the court that results were allegedly pre-written by officials.
After proceedings, Galadi said the court granted extensions for filing replies to processes from INEC and the third defendant, including responses to a preliminary objection.
A separate application for leave to appeal and stay of execution was contested and adjourned.
Counsel to the third defendant, J.C. Shaka,
