Benue rural road projects boost farmers’ access to markets – Official

The Benue State Government has said its rural road projects are improving farmers’ access to markets, boosting agricultural activities and stimulating economic development across the state.

The State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, Stephen Numbeve, stated this in a statement on Wednesday while highlighting the achievements of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.

According to him, investments in rural road infrastructure have opened up farming communities, reduced post-harvest losses and enhanced the movement of agricultural produce to markets.

He said, “Rural connectivity initiatives have transformed farming communities’ access to markets, directly stimulating agricultural commerce and economic activity across hinterland regions.

“RAAMP has become a major driver of rural development in Benue State through the construction of roads, bridges and culverts.

“We have delivered more than 140 culverts and bridges across the state, significantly improving transportation for farmers and rural communities while enhancing access to markets.”
