Ogun Assembly exonerates ex-Speaker of embezzlement allegation

The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution exonerating former Speaker Olakunle Oluomo of an allegation of embezzlement linked to his removal in 2024.

The Assembly also commuted Oluomo’s impeachment to a resignation through a resolution adopted during Wednesday’s plenary at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The resolution followed the presentation of the Committee of the Whole House report by the Deputy Speaker, Mrs Lateefat Ajayi.

The report was based on a motion earlier presented by Oluomo to the Assembly on March 31.

Ajayi moved the motion for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by Mr Yusuf Amosun and unanimously approved by a voice vote.

The House held that the allegation of embezzlement was not contained in the notice of removal served on Oluomo.
