NSCDC cracks down on illegal petroleum trade, nabs two suspects in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, has arrested two suspects over alleged criminal conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum products.

The command also impounded a truck conveying about 4,000 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil.

Parading the suspects at the state command headquarters in Awka on Wednesday, the Anambra State NSCDC Commandant, Maku Olatunde, said the arrest followed intelligence-led operations initiated by the command to clamp down on economic sabotage in the oil and gas sector.

Olatunde described the arrest as another significant operational breakthrough in the fight against vandalism and economic sabotage.

He said the suspects were arrested along Boromeu Road, near Limca Road, Onitsha, with a truck loaded with about 4,000 litres of suspected adulterated petroleum product.
