LAWMA evacuates waste along Apapa-Ajegunle corridor

The Lagos Waste Management Authority has intensified its Emergency Deep Clean Lagos initiative with a large-scale sanitation exercise along the Apapa-Ajegunle corridor, as part of efforts to improve environmental cleanliness across the state.

In a statement obtained from the agency’s X page by The PUNCH on Wednesday, LAWMA said the exercise was carried out on July 20 across the Central V operational region.

According to the agency, the operation began at about 6 am and lasted approximately three hours, covering Marine Beach, NAFDAC, Mobile, Agbo-Malu, Arakan Barracks and Ashanti Barracks.

It said the exercise focused on evacuating accumulated waste, clearing environmental black spots and restoring cleanliness to strategic locations along the corridor.

LAWMA said the operation formed part of its ongoing Emergency Deep Clean Lagos campaign aimed at improving environmental sanitation, promoting public health and maintaining cleaner road corridors across the state.
