The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service has kicked off a fresh phase of its taxpayer sensitisation campaign on the newly introduced tax laws, beginning with stakeholders town hall engagement in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The town hall meeting, held in Okene on Friday, marked the first in a series of engagements planned across the state’s three senatorial districts to educate taxpayers, improve compliance and deepen public understanding of the reforms.
The forum gave business owners, taxpayers and other stakeholders the opportunity to engage directly with officials of the revenue service, seek clarification on the new tax regime and raise concerns affecting their businesses.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr Sule Salihu Enehe, represented by the Director of Legal Services, Barrister Abubakar-Aliyu Bala, described taxation as a fundamental driver of civilisation and national development.
