Nigeria’s newly appointed High Commissioner to India, Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Muhammad, has officially taken up his post in New Delhi.

Muhammad, who arrived in India earlier this week with his wife, Rukayya, was warmly received at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by officials of the Nigerian High Commission, representatives of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, members of the Nigerian community, and several African envoys accredited to India.

Speaking at a formal declaration ceremony, Muhammad described his appointment as a return to familiar ground, recalling his earlier visits to India for promotion examinations and regional assignments over the past two decades.

“Twenty years ago I was here as a young officer writing for my first promotion exams overseas… and today, by the special grace of Almighty Allah, I have assumed duty here as substantive Nigerian High Commissioner to the Republic of India,” he said.

Muhammad pledged to adopt an inclusive leadership style, assuring embassy staff
