The Deputy Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe State, Fatima Mairiga, has died after a brief illness.
PUNCH Online gathered that Mairiga died on Saturday in Kano, where she had reportedly been receiving medical treatment.
Her death was announced in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Yobe State Deputy Governor, Hussaini Suleh, who described the development as a great loss to the APC family in the state.
According to the statement, the APC chieftain died after a brief illness.
“The death has occurred of Hajiya Fatima Mairiga, Yobe State APC Deputy Women Leader, today in Kano after a brief illness,” the statement read.
Although the nature of her illness was not disclosed, her death has thrown family members, political associates and supporters into mourning.
