Hamza Al-Mustapha, former chief security officer to Sani Abacha, late military head of state, says he has CCTV footage of the ex-president’s final moments, dismissing a recent publication that he died during an intimate encounter with a woman.
Abacha was Nigeria’s military ruler from November 1993 to June 1998.
Al-Mustapha has repeatedly claimed that Abacha died from a handshake with a security operative of a visiting dignitary.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna as reported by The Nation, Al-Mustapha described the account by Dennis Amachree, a retired Department of State Services (DSS) operative, as untrue.
He alleged that the author was influenced to put forward the narrative.
“The boy was asked to write the lies by others. I have all the CCTV footages of what happened in my custody, so what he said are not true,” Al-Mustapha said.
