Air transportation or air navigation remains the safest means or mode of travel in all countries of the world. Nigeria is not an exception. There is no controversy about that, and there should be no reason for one.
Examining this mode of transportation in the above context shall be on several fronts such as comparative analysis to other modes of transport, accident rates compared, its fastness, comfortability, technology involved, regulatory roles involved in its operations, attractive returns on investment, etc.
Looking at the available data from the Federal Road Safety Commission, Nigeria recorded 9,570 road accidents that claimed 5,421 lives in 2024, while road accidents increased in 2025 to 10,446, with deaths recorded from those crashes standing at 5,289. Those who suffered various degrees of injuries in 2024 were put at 31,154, while the injured in 2025 stood at 33,400.
