Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a public holiday for workers across the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

The directive, contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, applies to all categories of public servants, including local government employees and staff of tertiary institutions.

In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the government explained that the decision was aimed at ensuring public servants fulfill their civic obligations before the election.

However, workers on essential duties such as medical and security services were advised to make internal arrangements to prevent disruption of public services.

Governor Adeleke also urged informal sector workers and other registered voters who have yet to collect their PVCs to do so without delay.

“Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper
