Fresh details have emerged from a high-level diplomatic meeting between Nigerian and South African officials following renewed attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals living in South Africa.
The Federal Government on Monday strongly condemned the recurring violence, describing the attacks as unacceptable and calling on the South African authorities to take immediate and decisive action to protect lives and property.
Politics Nigeria earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu declined to personally receive a special envoy sent by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Instead, the President directed the delegation to meet with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, who was tasked with receiving the visitors and briefing him on the outcome of the discussions.
The South African delegation was led by the country’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola.
