Ruth
Originating from Hebrew, the name “Ruth” carries the meanings of “compassionate” and “friend.” This name is imbued with positive qualities such as kindness, empathy, and loyalty. In the narrative of the biblical story of Ruth, these very traits shine through in her actions and her persona.
The story of Ruth teaches us about perseverance and never giving up, even when things seem tough. Imagine being in the shoes of Ruth, an older woman who didn’t have any children and had lost her husband and sons. She had lost almost everything and was going back home. But her daughter-in-law Ruth decided to stay with her, which was pretty amazing.
Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi told her that their future looked really difficult, and this made another daughter-in-law, Orpah, decide to go back to her own family. But Ruth was determined and wouldn’t be discouraged.
