Team Nigeria has climbed to the top five on the medals table at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after weightlifters won three more gold medals on Monday, taking the country’s tally to 10 medals.
The National Sports Commission, in a statement posted on its X handle on Tuesday, said Team Nigeria now has six gold and four silver medals, placing the country ahead of every other African nation at the Games.
According to the commission, weightlifters Edidiong Umoafia, Onome Didih and Rafiatu Lawal delivered another golden outing to boost Nigeria’s medal haul.
