Ondo commissioner sues 35 APC elders over publication

The Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac, and one Kunle Odide have dragged 35 elders of the All Progressives Congress before the state High Court sitting in Akure over an alleged libellous publication.

The claimants sued the elders over a publication in a national daily (not The PUNCH) in February this year, demanding N5bn in damages.

They also asked the court to order the defendants to publish an apology to them in three national daily newspapers, among other reliefs.

One of the defendants in the suit is a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state during the administration of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, Mr Kola Olawoye (SAN).

Speaking after the matter came up for hearing before the court on Tuesday, Olawoye, who is the first defendant, said he appeared for himself and seven others, while lawyers represented the remaining defendants.
