A traditional ruler, Ifayemi Elebu-Ibon has emphasised the importance of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe (the traditional Yoruba religious and cultural practices), urging monarchs across Yorubaland to remain connected to their roots and uphold the customs passed down through generations. According to him, while kings may practice Christianity or Islam in their personal lives, preserving traditional rites remains an important responsibility tied to the throne and the well-being of their communities.

The monarch maintained that traditional rites play a significant role in promoting peace, unity, protection, and prosperity within communities, stressing that rulers who genuinely have the interests of their people at heart should not shy away from embracing the cultural responsibilities that come with their position.
