The Allied People’s Movement has challenged President Bola Tinubu to leave the comfort of the Presidential Villa and visit communities and markets across the country to verify his administration’s claims that Nigeria’s economy and security situation have improved.
The opposition party, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, described the President’s claims as “illusory,” arguing that they contradict the realities faced by millions of Nigerians struggling with rising living costs, insecurity and economic hardship.
The criticism followed President Tinubu’s recent remarks during an engagement with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, where he reportedly told the clerics that his administration had stabilised the economy and moved the country away from what he described as “bankruptcy and the dark tunnel of uncertainty.”
