
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken responsibility for the continued presence of cattle on major roads and streets across Abuja, admitting that the situation remains a concern despite efforts to improve the capital city.
Speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Monday, Wike expressed regret over the development and assured residents that the administration remains committed to addressing it.
“I apologise that up till now there are cows still roaming the streets of Abuja; I take responsibility,” the minister said.
The presence of roaming cattle in Abuja has been a recurring issue for years, with residents and motorists periodically raising concerns about safety and the movement of livestock on major roads.
Speaking further, Wike highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across the territory, noting that development initiatives were being extended beyond the city centre to communities in satellite towns.
