The Nigerian Army on Thursday launched a seminar in Kaduna aimed at strengthening the capacity of its engineers to counter the growing threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in modern security operations.
The programme, organised by the 41 Engineer Brigade of 1 Division, coincided with the graduation of participants from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) X2 Course 126.
Speaking at the event, the Commander, Corps of Engineers, Maj.-Gen. S.T. Shafaru represented by Maj.-Gen. Josiah Attah, said the training was designed to equip army engineers with the technical skills needed to support ongoing military operations nationwide. He noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of enhancing the adaptability and resilience of the Nigerian Army in joint and multi-agency missions.
Shafaru explained that the EOD course was introduced to address the shortage of specialists and improve operational capability, stressing that IEDs remain one of the most serious threats confronting troops in counter-insurgency operations. He highlighted
