Insecurity: Plateau teachers protest school kidnappings, present demands to govt

Teachers in Plateau State under the platform of the Nigeria Union of Teachers took to the streets on Tuesday in protest against insecurity and other challenges affecting their members across the country.

The teachers marched through major streets in Jos before heading to the Rayfield Government House to present a protest letter to the state government.

Speaking during the protest, the NUT Chairman in the state, Elisha Haruna, said the demonstration was in solidarity with members facing security threats nationwide.

“We are here in solidarity with all our members who are victims of kidnapping, most especially our members in Borno State, Yobe, Plateau, Oyo and other places who are presently in the den of kidnappers,” the chairman said.

He lamented that growing insecurity had made the classroom unsafe for both teachers and pupils.
