The Accord party has petitioned President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and other stakeholders over alleged harassment, intimidation, and arrest of its members ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, the party renewed its call for the immediate removal of Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, accusing him of partisanship and warning that his continued stay in office could undermine the credibility of the poll.
Mgbudem claimed that about 100 Accord leaders, candidates, members, and supporters have been arrested and detained across the state, with some transferred to Abuja.
He described the actions as politically motivated and designed to frustrate the party’s campaign.
The party lamented that previous reports of attacks on its campaign council, offices, supporters, and campaign materials were ignored by security agencies, with no arrests made.
