Manchester United have moved swiftly to secure their first major signing of the summer after reaching a £35 million agreement with Serie A side Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Éderson.
The 26-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract at Old Trafford, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months. The transfer is expected to be completed in early July, subject to a medical, before United begin pre-season preparations.
Éderson will become Manchester United’s first signing since Michael Carrick was appointed permanent head coach last month.
The deal also includes up to £3.9 million (€4.5 million) in performance-related add-ons.
The Brazilian midfielder is expected to be the first of several additions in central midfield as United seek to reinforce a department weakened by the departure of compatriot Casemiro, whose contract expires at the end of the month.
