Aurora Ventures launches $250K pre-seed, seed fund for women-led tech startups

Aurora Ventures, an investment initiative backed by inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, has launched a new funding track specifically designed to bridge the persistent venture capital deficit plaguing female-founded tech startups across emerging markets.

Nigeria has been positioned as a core focal hub for the deployment of this capital. The strategic entry into the Nigerian tech ecosystem was announced following the conclusion of the Aurora Tech Award in Santiago, Chile.

The global competition served as a stark indicator of Nigeria’s rising female technical talent, with Nigerian tech entrepreneur Adeola Ayoola-Famasi breaking into the top 10 finalists from a massive global pool of 3,400 applicants.

“We consistently observe talented women entrepreneurs building highly resilient, technically sound architectures, only to gain access to institutional capital much later in their product lifecycles and under less favorable term sheets than their achievements justify,” Isabella Ghassemi-Smith, head of Aurora Ventures, stated.
