Emejuru: Tinubu’s Economic Reforms Deepening Hardship for Nigerians

Public affairs analyst and Action Democratic Party (ADP) chieftain, Chris Emejuru, has sharply criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, warning that they are worsening poverty across Nigeria.

In a statement released on Sunday, Emejuru argued that policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira were introduced with good intentions but have left millions of Nigerians struggling.

“The increase in petrol prices has impacted food, rent, transportation, and other critical sectors, leaving millions more in poverty. It should have been done gradually with safety nets,” he said.

Emejuru suggested that measures such as affordable transport options, agricultural support, and housing incentives could have cushioned the impact. 

He noted that while the reforms reduced bottlenecks and boosted investor confidence, ordinary Nigerians have seen little improvement in their daily lives.He pointed to the exchange rate, now hovering around ₦1,400 to the dollar, as a major obstacle for families and businesses.
