Nigerians conducted mobile money transactions worth N372.14tn in 2025, representing an increase of 81.26 per cent from N205.31tn recorded in 2024, as expanding agent networks and wider adoption of digital financial services accelerated the country’s transition to electronic payments.
The figures are contained in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s 2025 Annual Report, which also showed that the volume of transactions processed by Mobile Money Operators rose by 65.77 per cent to 28.74 billion in 2025 from 17.34 billion in the previous year.
The report stated, “In 2025, the volume and value of payment services offered by MMOs through their agent touchpoints and innovative technology continued to increase. The volume of transactions rose to 28,741.83 million from 17,337.97 million in 2024. Similarly, the value of transactions increased to N372.14tn from N205.31tn.”
It attributed the growth to “the increased onboarding of agents, advancements in digital financial solutions, and collaborations with relevant stakeholders.”
