Six suspected cultists arrested over attempted murder in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of the Alora Confraternity in connection with an alleged attempted murder following a violent clash at a hotel in Ikere-Ekiti.

The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad, RRS, after a disturbance reportedly broke out during a meeting held at a in the early hours of Saturday, August 1, 2026.

According to the police, the suspects engaged in a violent confrontation, leaving one of them, identified as Sucrose, with severe injuries. The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

A statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said the RRS, working in collaboration with surveillance operatives from the Ilupeju Police Division, swiftly responded to the incident and arrested six suspects. They were identified as Owolabi Oluwapelumi (28), David Adeleke (28), Oluwatoba Alo (30), Olamilekan Junior (27), Segun Bidemi (29), and Emmanuel Oladele (27).

The police disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly admitted to being members of the Alora Secret Cult Confraternity.

During the operation, officers recovered a Toyota Camry car, two face caps bearing the Alora logo, three plastic cups branded with the same logo, a blood-stained shirt, a pair of scissors, a yellow-coloured hand band, and a key holder bearing the Alora logo.

The Command also revealed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene. In addition, Inspiration Hotel is being investigated for allegedly allowing its premises to be used for suspected secret cult activities.
