Flood kills two in Damaturu as Yobe SEMA issues safety advisory

Two persons have been confirmed dead following a flood incident that struck Malari, Pompomari and surrounding communities in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State after a heavy rainfall on Sunday.

This was contained in a Flash Flood Incident Report issued by the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.

According to the report, the victims have been identified as Isa Haruna, 38, a security personnel attached to Mallam Matari, and Abba Kyari, 18, who reportedly drowned in the Pompomari area.

The Yobe SEMA Search and Rescue Team, in collaboration with the State Fire Service, Damaturu, responded to the incident.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the victims were confirmed dead and their bodies were conveyed to the mortuary at the General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Damaturu,” the report read.

Following the incident, the State Emergency Management Agency has urged the public, particularly parents and guardians, to closely supervise children as schools
