Abducted pupils: Heavy security at Aso Villa as Sowore leads protest

Human rights activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday led a protest in Abuja, demanding the immediate rescue of abducted schoolchildren across the country, amid heavy security deployment around the Presidential Villa.

The protest, which was initially planned to proceed to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa under the hashtag #OccupyAsoRock, was held in front of the Federal High Court after security operatives blocked access routes leading to the State House.

Security presence was significantly reinforced around the Presidential Villa, with anti-riot policemen cordoning off the main gates and restricting access to persons without official State House identification tags.
