The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has called for greater accountability from the state government over the worsening security situation, saying the continued loss of lives reflects a failure to adequately protect residents.
The party made the call in a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Kasim AlMustapha, following the reported death of Bello Umar Abdullahi, who allegedly died from gunshot injuries sustained during an attack by suspected bandits.
According to the statement, the incident underscores the persistent insecurity confronting communities across Zamfara, where residents continue to face killings, kidnappings and displacement.
The Chairman of the NDC in Zamfara State, Surajo Garba Mai Katako, described the incident as heartbreaking and extended condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for the repose of his soul.
The party, however, said the recurring attacks highlighted what it described as the government’s inability to fulfil its primary responsibility
