Commonwealth approves new framework for youth development

The Commonwealth is set to implement a new framework to guide the delivery of the Commonwealth Youth Programme over the next three years to advance youth development across member countries.

The framework aligns the project with the Strategic Plan 2025–2030 and positions young people as partners and leaders in building democratic, economic and environmental resilience.

The initiative, endorsed by the Youth Ministerial Task Force, seeks to create opportunities for youth leadership, skills, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion, supported by measurable results.

Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Botchwey, said the strong level of support received reflects a shared dedication to strengthening the alliance’s co-operation on youth development.

The chief executive highlighted the valuable recommendations on implementation, financing, technical assistance, and support for Small States and Small Island Developing States.
