Nigeria, China Deepen Talks on Power Infrastructure Partnership

Nigeria is seeking stronger collaboration with China to boost its electricity and industrial infrastructure, following high-level talks between Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, and Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, who also serves as Director-General of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The meeting, held Thursday in Abuja, focused on advancing bilateral cooperation in critical sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and industrial development—areas central to Nigeria’s modernization agenda.

Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his appointment and praised his role in strengthening ties between both nations. 

He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in implementing agreements reached at the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, emphasizing that enhanced cooperation in power and infrastructure would deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

Tegbe, in response, described China as a “vital development partner” and expressed gratitude for its longstanding support of Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.
