The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has inaugurated a constituency bridge project constructed by the member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oforji Oboku, in Opolo community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Diri also approved the construction of a road linking the community to the Gloryland Drive in Yenagoa.
He commended the federal lawmaker for embarking on the massive project, noting that it was very rare for a lawmaker to undertake such an expensive project.
He said, “It would have taken your full tenure and even more to complete a project like this. So I appreciate Honourable Oboku for remembering his people because they say charity begins at home.”
Responding to an appeal to the state government to intervene in a lingering dispute between the community and its neighbours, Okutukutu and Edepie, the governor urged communities to maintain peace for the sake of development.
