A non-governmental organisation, the ‘Model Women Foundation,’ said it will begin an intensive 14-day programme aimed at bonding mothers and their daughters more, as well as build trust.
The body said such understanding will enable daughters open up more to their parents, especially when confronted with cases of sexual abuse/harassment within or outside their homes.
Convener of the foundation, Mrs Favour Wisdom-Osiri disclosed this during a media briefing in Port Harcourt ahead of the 7th edition of its programme tagged ‘Mom & Daughter Ball 2026’.
Wisdom-Osiri explained that the initiative has become necessary due to the growing disconnect between mothers and their girl children in society.
She noted that the disconnection has made it very difficult for daughters to freely open-up to their mothers on intimate issues leading them to seek solutions outside their homes.
