Group urges NDDC’s intervention over flooded roads, farmlands

A group, Prayer Foundation Network International, in Ekpenyong Atai community of the Easien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has appealed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for assistance, saying flood has submerged the only strategic access road linking the area to other adjoining town, including Etim Ekpo and devastated agricultural produce.

The group leader, Lady Grace Umoren made the appeal in a statement on Monday as the group concluded its seven-day fasting and prayer programme.

She called for urgent intervention from government, the NDDC and other relevant agencies “to fix the deplorable road with gutters, and divert flood waters away from the people’s homes and farmlands.”

The leader recalled that that the state of the Ekpenyong Atai community road had been reported to the NDDC, through the agency’s Director of Projects, Victor Antai, but regretted that the Interventionist agency was yet to respond to the plights
