APC Accuses Osun Govt of Disguising Vote-Buying as Palliative Payments

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that the state government’s disbursement of ₦20,000 palliatives to workers and other beneficiaries is a calculated attempt to influence voters ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday, the APC Campaign Council described the payments as a vote-buying scheme dressed up as welfare support.

The party insisted the exercise was politically motivated rather than a genuine effort to ease economic hardship.

The council argued that the timing of the direct bank transfers to civil servants, residents, and even NYSC members raised serious questions about the government’s intentions so close to the polls.

It maintained that the move amounted to an improper use of state resources to secure electoral advantage.
