
A factional chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, Alexander Ombugu, has alleged that his life is under threat and called on security agencies to provide him with protection and investigate the matter.
Ombugu made the allegation while speaking with journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday.
He said the alleged threats might be connected to his position on issues that arose during the party’s recently concluded primary elections in the state.
The LP chieftain, however, declined to identify those he suspected to be behind the alleged threats, saying such information would be better disclosed to security agencies to avoid compromising investigations.
He appealed to security agencies in the state to provide him with adequate security and immediately investigate the matter.
Ombugu added, “The whole issue is because I am standing by the truth, and some people within and outside the party are not happy about it.
