
Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force, North Central, Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have rescued two kidnapped victims in Kwara State during a clearance operation along Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis.
The Army disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, noting that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid the North Central region of criminal elements.
The post reads, “In a decisive demonstration of operational prowess, troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD (OPSS), deployed at Patrol Base Babasango, successfully rescued two civilians from the clutches of kidnappers in Kwara State.
“On 3 June 2026, during an aggressive fighting patrol to Gidan Dogo Ekaa, the troops encountered and secured the victims who had daringly escaped their captors’ custody,” the Army stated.
