Accord Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Steal Election Materials in Osun

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has expressed concern over what it described as a plot to steal sensitive election materials ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, the party claimed it had received credible intelligence suggesting that opposition elements were planning to compromise the electoral process by diverting or concealing materials meant for polling units.

According to the party, such disruption could disenfranchise thousands of voters and undermine the credibility of the election. “The alleged plot is aimed at preventing the timely deployment of sensitive election materials to selected polling units across the state,” the statement read.

Accord urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure strict accountability in the storage, movement, and distribution of materials, while calling on security agencies—including the Police, DSS, and NSCDC—to investigate the intelligence and take preventive action.
