FUTATH clarifies salary arrangement after FG takeover claims

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH), Prof. Olusegun Ojo, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Federal Government has taken over the payment of salaries of the hospital’s entire workforce, describing such claims as a misrepresentation of the current salary arrangement.

The hospital management, in a statement issued and signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Mr. Tope Fayehun, clarified that workers at the institution are currently divided into two categories following the hospital’s transition from a state-owned specialist hospital to a federal teaching hospital, with their salaries being paid by different tiers of government.

According to Fayehun, permanent staff inherited from the former state-owned hospital remain on the payroll of the Ondo State Government, which has continued to meet its salary obligations to the workers.
