England’s Toney charged with assault after London nightclub incident

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.

The 30-year-old Al-Ahli forward was charged on 31 July in connection with an incident that occurred on Wardour Street, Soho, on 6 December.

Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 September.

As reported by the BBC on Friday, A spokesperson for the former Brentford striker said Toney acknowledged the charge but was looking forward to defending himself in court.

“Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being allowed to clear his name in court,” the spokesperson said.
