Tinubu Hails Milestone as Nigeria Secures Seat in Global Energy Council

President Bola Tinubu has welcomed Nigeria’s formal admission into the World Energy Council (WEC), describing it as a landmark achievement that shows confidence in the country’s energy reforms and leadership role in Africa.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Nigeria’s entry into the century-old global network of over 100 countries will enable the nation to actively shape global conversations on energy security, equity, and sustainability.

He congratulated the inaugural leadership of WEC Nigeria, including Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa and Chief Executive Officer Bala Wunti, alongside other distinguished board members drawn from industry, finance, academia, and youth leadership.

Tinubu praised Isa as a trailblazing industrialist whose investments in indigenous refining have opened new frontiers for Nigerian enterprise, and Wunti as one of the country’s finest energy strategists whose reforms have boosted national revenues and investor confidence.
